Are Dental Implants for Everyone?

Posted .

The best thing about dental implants is that they work at any age.  Dental implants are a terrific procedure at any age to replace missing teeth and save you from losing your jawbone. The success rate does not depend on age. It depends more on health. Dental implants work for just about everyone!!!!

Dental implants can be life changing at any age and can improve health and self-confidence. Missing teeth can cause difficulty chewing and enjoying your food.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants have 3 parts: the root, the tooth and a crown. Our experienced dentists secure the root portion into the bone.  After approximately 3 months the root portion of the implant will integrate with the natural bone. The tooth portion is attached to the root portion and an impression is taken to send to the dental laboratory for the fabrication of the crown portion.

Dental implants are strong, safe, and one of the most predictable dental procedures.

Dental implant procedures usually include a few different steps:

Consultation.  Call us for a discussion if dental implants are right for you. Our experienced implant dentist will examine your mouth, take X-rays as well as 3-D images, and discuss all the dental options.

Dental implant placement. During your next scheduled appointment, our dentist will place the dental implant in your jaw where your tooth is missing. Amazingly, most people experience less pain and discomfort than you would expect and usually return to work the next day.

Post-implant surgery discomfort is like any other dental surgery. Surprisingly, most patients manage any discomfort with over-the-counter medications. There may be slight swelling, bruising, and minor bleeding.

The next step is a waiting game. The root portion of the implant needs to become one with your natural bone. This is a very important step in the process. The integration with bone serves to be a strong foundation for your new tooth.

Once the dental implant is strong and stable, the tooth is added to the root and then the crown is made to cover your new tooth. You will now be able to chew on it and use it fully.
